God Loves You

Do you know how much God loves you?
Count the stars and all their kin,
Breathe the fresh air from the mountains,
Walk where winter snows have been,
Smell the flowers of the valley,
Taste the berries on the hill,
Feel the sunlight and the showers,
Listen to the wind grow still.

Do you know how much God loves you?
Watch a little child at play,
Touch the soft cheeks of a baby,
Hear a bird at close of day,
See the smile of someone dying
          At a vigil's lonely end,
Know the depth of God's compassion
In the handclasp of a friend.
