To My Dear Friends...

My friend,
my companion,
through good times and bad
my friend,
my buddy,
through happy and sad,
beside me you stand,
beside me you walk,
you're there to listen,
you're there to talk,
with happiness,
with smiles,
with pain and tears,
I know you'll be there, throughout the years!

A Recipe For Friendship

Fold two hands together
And express a dash of sorrow
Marinate it overnight
And work on it tomorrow.
Chop one grudge in tiny pieces
Add several cups of love.
Dredge with a large sized smile
Mix with the ingredients above.
Dissolve the hate within you,
By doing a good deed,
Cut in and help your friend,
If he should be in need.
Stir in laughter, love, and kindness
From the heart it has to come,
Toss with genuine forgiveness
And give your neighbor some
The amount of people served
Will depend on you,
It can serve the whole wide world,
If you really want it to.

Real Friends and Simple Friends

Anyone can stand by you when you are right,
but a real friend will stand by you even when you are wrong...

A simple friend identifies himself when he calls.
A real friend doesn't have to

A simple friend opens a conversation with a full news bulletin on his life.
A real friend says, "What's new with you?"

A simple friend thinks the problems you whine about are recent.
A real friend says, "You've been whining about the same thing for 14 years. Do something about it!"

Asimple friend has never seen you cry.
A real friend has shoulders soggy from your tears.

A simple friend doesn't know your parents' first names.
A real friend has their phone numbers in his address book.

A simple friend brings a six-pack of pop to your party.
A real friend comes early to help you cook and stays late to help you clean.

Asimple friend hates it when you call after he has gone to bed.
A real friend asks you why you took so long to call.

A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your problems.
A real friend seeks to help you with your problems.

A simple friend wonders about your romantic history.
A real friend could blackmail you with it.

A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest.
A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps himself.

A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when you have an argument.
A real friend knows that it's not a friendship if you quit after the first argument.

A simple friend expects you to always be there for them.
A real friend expects to always be there for you!

A ball is a circle, no beginning, no end.
It keeps us together like our circle of friends,
but the treasure inside for you to see
is the treasure of friendship you have granted me.
Today I pass this friendship ball to you,
pass it on to someone who needs friendship too.

Friendship is a strange thing....we find ourselves telling each other the deepest details of our lives...things we don't even share with our families who raised us...But what is a friend? A confidant? A lover? A fellow email junkie? A shoulder to cry on? an ear to listen? a heart to feel?...A friend is  all these things...and more.  No matter where we met,....I call you friend.  A  word so small...yet so large in feeling...a word filled with emotion. It is true great things come in small packages.

Once the package of friendship has been opened, it can never be is a constant book always written...waiting to be read...and enjoyed.

We may have our disagreements...we may argue...we may concern one another... friendship is a unique bond that lasts through it all.... A part of me is put into my friends...some it is my humor...some it is my listening ear...some it is real life experiences...some it is my romanticism...but with all, it is friendship. Friendships forged are a construct stronger than steel built as a foundation....necessary for life...and necessary for love. :-)

Special People

The special people in this world are the most precious and the most appreciated people of all.  No matter what happens, they always understand. They go a million miles out of their way.  They hold your hand.  They bring you smiles, when a smile is exactly what you need. They listen, and they hear what is said in the spaces between the words.  They care, and they let you know you're in their prayers.
Special people always know the perfect thing to do.  They can make your whole day just by saying something  that no one else could have said. Sometimes you feel like they share with you a secret language that others can't tune into.
Special people can guide you, inspire you, comfort you, and light up your life with laughter.      Special people understand  your moods and nurture your needs, and they lovingly know just what you're after. When your feelings come from deep inside and the need to be spoken to someone; you don't have to hide from, you share them...with special people.
When good news comes, special people are the first ones you turn to, and when feelings overflow and tears need to fall, special people help you through it all.
Special people bring sunlight into your life. They warm your world with their presence, whether they are far away or close by your side.
Special people are gifts that bring happiness, and treasures that money can't buy.

You are my friend and I hope you know that's true.
No matter what happens I will stand by you.
I will be there for you whenever you need.
To lend you a hand to do a good deed.
So just call on me when you need me, my friend.
I will always be there even to the end.

My Friend Around The Corner

Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end.

Yet days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it a year is gone,

And I never see my old friend's face;
For life is a swift and terrible race.

He knows I like him just as well
As in the days when I rang his bell

And he rang mine. We were younger then--
And now we are busy, tired men--

Tired with playing a foolish game;
Tired with trying to make a name.

"Tomorrow," I say, "I will call on Jim,
Just to show that I'm thinking of him."

But tomorrow comes--and tomorrow goes;
And the distance between us grows and grows.

Around the corner!--yet miles away...
"Here's a telegram, sir. Jim died today."

And that's what we get--and deserve in the end--
Around the corner, a vanished friend.

-Henson Towne

Did you ever see a sunset
   stretch across the starry skies
  And wish those wondrous colors
   were reflected in my eyes?
Did you ever wonder about this,
when the night came closing in,
If that same moon you're looking at
   was shining on your friend?
Did you ever stop and think,
  no matter where you are,
I just might be gazing up
  at that self-same star?
Do you know that gentle breeze
  that cools your fevered brow,
Could be dancing in my hair,
   or touching me somehow?
And if I sent a kiss to you,
  carried on the wind,
  It might reach you,
take one too, and bring it back again.
And if you see a shooting star
   across the heavens glide,
My mouth might form an "Oh, how grand! "
as if standing by your side.
So when you close your eyes tonight,
   and the darkness does descend,
That same night wraps around me, too,
  until I wake again.
That morning sunrise that you see,
  so glorious and pink,
My eyes are looking at it, too,
it makes me stop and think,
  No matter what the distance,
  it matters not how far,
We can always find each other
  in the morning star.
I hope the time will never come
that our friendship is at the end,
but if so I will still stop and thank the Lord
for the time you were my friend.

I have often wondered where I'd be
If it weren't for all the faithful friends that God has given me.
And when I thank the Father,
You're first on my mind - one of a kind.
Like a sister, You have been to me
Closer than a prayer,
And a sister I would be to you
A friend unto the end
I will be your sister to the end.
You have known me when my faith is strong
You have seen me when I was feeling life was wrong
I would not be afraid to share the things that I have put away
Inside of me...

Friends are such important parts of our lives.  Where would be without them? There are casual acquaintances and then there are those special people who find their way through all formalities and insecurities right into our hearts. Sometimes these friends - these special God given gifts become closer than a sister or even literally become that sister we never had.  They epitomize the loyality of these words in Proverbs 17,  "A friend loveth at all times," because they faithfully affirm and help us realize our own strengths.  They love us in spite of our weaknesses.  When some friends fail us God is always our strength and our friend.

Prayer & Friendship

Sometimes the best thing we can do is pray.  Praying together is one of the best foundations for a friendship.  Jesus pointed out that there is added authority and power in our prayers when we make the extra effor to pray with another person. " I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for - it will be done for you by my Father in Heaven.  For where two or three come together in My name there I am with them."  By setting aside time to pray together, our friendships grow stronger and more significant. There is a great sense of oneness in having knelt before the Lord together and talked about our problems, struggles, joys, etc. Together we can make it! :-)

A Friend
By Wendy S.

A friend is someone you can count on,
A friend is someone who is always there,
A friend never puts down someone for making a mistake.
A friend always lifts, never makes fun.

A friend never thinks twice about giving a hand,
A friend never looks back at looking ahead,
A friend should make you laugh, not cry.
A friend gives you the happiness you've longed for.

A friend is someone who should give their life for you,
And when deciding who it is, they should always pick you.
A friend is someone you should have.

I have a friend,
Maybe you have Him too,
A friend that lasts a lifetime,
If you will let Him in, let Him begin.
This friend went to a hill and it was called Calvary.

Where He suffered and bled,
You can have this friend too,
His name is Jesus Christ,
And He died for me and for you.

"Friends Forever"

"Friends forever," she said.
"Friends forever," he said.
Eight years old and they made the vow to remain friends forever.

"I need some room," she said.
"I'll back away," he said.
Ten years old and they made the vow to give each other space.

"Does Tommy like me?" she asked.
"I'll find out," he said.
Twelve years old and he made the vow to find out if Tommy liked her.
"He doesn't love me anymore," she said.
"He doesn't deserve you," he said.
Fourteen years old and he made the vow to love her forever.

"Nobody loves me," she said.
"I know someone who does," he said.
Sixteen years old and he made the vow to love her forever.

"I'm getting married," she said.
"I'll be there," he said.
Eighteen years old and he made the vow to forever hold his peace.

"I got divorced yesterday," she said.
"I'm here for you," he said.
Twenty years old and he made the vow to be there for her forever.
"Why doesn't anyone love me?" she asked.
"I have always loved you," he said.
Twenty-two years old and he made the vow to keep on loving her.
"I could never love you," she said.
"I could never stop," he said.
Twenty-four years old and he made the vow to never love again.

"I can never see you again," she said.
"I can never live again," he said.
Twenty-six years old and he made the vow to never live again.
"I'm sorry," she said.
Twenty-eight years old and he made the vow as he lay in an open casket.

"Pass this on to your friends whom you love and don't want to lose..."

When you are sad I will dry your tears
When you are scared I will comfort your fears
When you are worried I will give you hope
When you are confused I will help you cope
and when you are lost and can't see the light
I shall be your beacon shining ever so bright
This is my oath I pledge till the end
Why you may ask? because you're my friend...

There's a miracle called Friendship,
That dwells in the heart.
You don't know how it happens
Or when it gets a start.

But you know it always
Brings a special lift,
And you realize that Friendship
Is God's most precious gift!

A friend is there before you know it,
to lend a hand before you ask for it,
to offer a shoulder before you want it,
to give strength before you need it,
to find hope before you hunger,
to make peace before the war,
to offer shelter before you shiver,
to show you light when the dark is surrounding,
to be a rock when you are weak,
and to enjoy the fun when all is well.

I hold in my hands
a box of gold,
With a secret inside
that has never been told.

The box is priceless
but as I see,
The treasure in-side
is far more precious to me.

Today I share
this treasure with thee,
It's the treasure of friendship
You've given to me! :)

Friends are a
very rare jewel, indeed.
They make you smile and
encourage you to succeed.

They lend an ear, they share a word of praise,
and they always want to
open their hearts to us.

If you are my friend, please answer this:
Are we friends Or are we not?
You told me once But I forgot.
So tell me now And tell me true.
                 So I can say.......
                 "I'm here for you."
Of all the friends I've ever met,
                 You're the one I won't forget.
And if I die Before you do,
                 I'll go to heaven
                 And wait for you.

I'd like to be the sort of friend that you have been to me,

Happiness isn't the easiest thing to find, but one place you're guaranteed to find it is in a friends smile.  -Alison Poler

There is a difference between being a friend and being a Sister.  First, a friend is someone whose name you know, whom you see every now and then, with whom you probably have something in common, and around whom you feel comfortable.  It's a person that you can invite to your home and share things with.  But they are people with whom you wouldn't share your life, whose actions sometimes you don't understand because you don't know enough about them...
On the other hand, a sister is someone you love, you care about this person, and you think about her when she is not there. A sister is one of whom you are reminded when you see something she might like, and you know this because you know her so well. She is the person whose picture you have and whose face is in your head regardless.  She is the person you see in your mind when you hear a song on the radio because they sang that song. She is someone whom you feel safe because you know she cares about you.  She writes just to see how you are doing, and doesn't need an excuse.  She tells you the truth - the first time - and you do the same. You know that if you have a problem, she is there to listen.  She won't laugh at you or hurt you, and if she does hurt you, she cries hard to make it up to you. She is a person you love, regardless of whether you realize it. She is someone you can cry with and know she cares about your every hurt, joy, struggle, and emotion your dealing with. She is the one you hug, you don't think about how long to hug or who's going to be the first one to let go. She will help stop you from making mistakes and is always there to help you when you do.  She will give her hand to you so you can hold, she will give you a hug or a kiss and not have it be awkward, because she understands the things you do and she loves you for them.  She sticks with you and stands by you. She holds your hand.  She watches you live, and you watch her live, and you learn from her and she from you. Your life is not the same without her.

Remember everyone, no woman is a failure who has friends

Friends, you and me....
you brought another friend...
and then there were three...
we started our group...
Our circle of friends...
and like that circle...
there is no beginning or end...

Friends Are Like Angels

Our friends are like angels,
Who brighten our days.
In all kinds of wonderful,
Magical ways.

Their thoughtfulness comes,
As a gift from above.
And we feel we're surrounded,
By warm, caring love.

Like upside-down rainbows,
Their smiles bring the sun.
And they fill ho-hum moments,
With laughter and fun.

Friends are like angels,
Without any wings.
Blessing our lives,
With the most precious things.

Friends Are God's Gift to You
The glory of friendship
is not the outstretch hand,
nor the kindly smile
nor the joy of companionship;
it is the spiritual inspiration
that comes to one
when he discovers that
someone else believes in him
and is willing to trust him.
    ~Ralph Waldo Emerson~

Sometimes in life,
you find a special friend;
Someone who changes your life
just by being part of it.

Someone who makes you laugh
until you can't stop;
Someone who makes you believe
that there really is good in the world.

Someone who convinces you
that there really is an unlocked door
just waiting for you to open it.
This is Forever Friendship.

When you're down,
and the world seems dark and empty,
Your forever friend lifts you up in spirit
and makes that dark and empty world
suddenly seem bright and full.

Your forever friend gets you through
the hard times, the sad times,
and the confused times.
If you turn and walk away,
your forever friend follows.
If you lose your way,
your forever friend guides you
and cheers you on.

Your forever friend holds your hand
and tells you that
everything is going to be okay.
And if you find such a friend,
you feel happy and complete,
because you need not worry.
You have a forever friend for life,
and forever has no end.

A part of you has grown in me,
together forever we shall be,
never apart,
maybe in distance,
but not in heart.

"The golden chain of friendship
Is a strong and blessed tie
Binding kindred hearts together
As the years go passing by."
~Helen Steiner Rice

Remember...the very best Friend of all is Jesus Chris†, our Lord and Savior!
We will find no real satisfaction in any human relationship...the only true peace, joy, comfort, love, rest, and
friendship is found in Jesus!
